Somewhere between the utter stillness and oneness of meditation, and the chaotic and often painful drama of personality is the current of the Deeper Love. It rises from fullness; it knows only endless generosity of spirit. As soon as we open this current with one person, whether an intimate partner, or in fact with anyone, it opens with all life. To shift our relating from old habits of personality requires a genuine and sober agreement to dedicate our meeting to depth more than an agenda of protection. It requires repeated practice with tools that can reliably and quickly bring us back to the current of love, when we succumb to the old. Our relationships can serve a different God than they did before. We can serve love itself, and through conscious practice, we serve all beings.
